More than you ever wanted to know about your Realtors!! 
Darlene and I each
grew up in the state of Iowa. We met and fell in love at the University
of Iowa where I was studying towards a master's degree in clinical Psychology.
We were married soon after and I began working in the field of family
counseling. Darlene, who was fluent in sign language from growing up with
two deaf parents, began working as a sign-language interpreter for the deaf.
As a hobby, we started investing in real estate. We would buy properties in
need of care and then fix them up to be quickly resold.
In 1993 Darlene & I traveled to Portland for an interview for a PH.D program
at Pacific University. During our visit to Portland we fell in love with
Oregon. Later that year we decided to move to the Portland area. In Portland
we continued our careers in counseling and interpreting. We began to invest
more and more in rental properties. We soon found that we were much more
passionate about real estate than we were about our current jobs.
For that reason we became licensed Oregon Realtors and changed our careers
to pursue real estate full-time.
We quickly discovered that we had made the right decision. Darlene & I loved
working as Realtors. The knowledge I had learned as a counselor allowed me to
truly understand the clients I was working with and the emotions of buying and
selling a home. The skills I gained as an investor helped me master the real
estate market and especially how to help my clients systematically sell their
home for the most money possible. By the end of our first year as Realtors we
had sold over 40 homes and were in the top 10% of all realtors in the nation.
Since then we have continued to expand our business knowledge and experience.
We have added a third member to our sales and marketing team - assistant Leanne
Gillies. Working with Leanne has greatly improved our ability to communicate
regularly with our clients. We are thrilled to have her as part of our family.
Darlene and I are very proud of the results we deliver to the homesellers we
